Empatherapy in Community (EiC)
Empatherapy in Community (EiC) is a community-based programme and a key expression of the Empatherapy movement, which began within the prison system. As the leading community partner, Awful Grace helps provide a strong support network for individuals transitioning from incarceration to society.
Grounded in restorative practices, EiC offers a safe space for returning citizens to share experiences, navigate challenges, and build meaningful relationships. Through group discussions, peer mentorship, and community engagement, participants develop emotional resilience, accountability, and pro-social skills necessary for reintegration.
Social activities form a core part of EiC, promoting connection and inclusivity. These gatherings help strengthen familial bonds, rebuild trust, and create a sense of belonging—essential for rehabilitation. By engaging with both peers and family members, individuals are supported in their journey toward long-term reintegration and personal growth.
EiC bridges the gap between prison and society, empowering individuals to rewrite their stories with the help of compassionate peers and community members, cultivating a culture of healing, growth, and second chances.
